ÉcoPerformance

A Québec program for evaluating and labeling energy performance in commercial and institutional buildings, following published rules.

What is ÉcoPerformance for a commercial building?

ÉcoPerformance provides a recognized framework for comparing a building’s energy performance against benchmarks and communicating results using the official methodology. Specific obligations depend on the project type and the rules in effect at the time of assessment.

How does HVAC equipment fit into this framework?

Boilers, heat pumps, air handling systems and hydronic loops all influence actual consumption. Measures such as combustion analysis or water treatment monitoring document operations and can inform corrective actions when a gap persists relative to design assumptions.

What can operators expect?

The benchmark helps structure the dialogue between owners, facility managers and service providers. It does not replace detailed technical audits or regulatory interventions specific to each piece of equipment; it frames the building’s overall performance instead.
